Ike's Snowballs
About This Spot
Nestled just steps away from the lush greenery of City Park, Ike’s Snowballs exudes the charm of a casual local gem where the pace gently slows and the simple joy of cooling down takes center stage. Arriving here feels like slipping into a small, friendly retreat on a warm New Orleans day—an easygoing spot where families, friends, and even four-legged visitors find a shared moment of refreshment beneath open skies.
The atmosphere is unpretentious and welcoming, punctuated by the hum of laid-back conversations and children’s laughter. Seating spills outside under the shade, inviting guests to linger and savor not just a treat but the rare indulgence of relaxed time. Whether you’re stepping off the streetcar from nearby cemeteries or wandering through the park, the air carries a light sweetness that hints at the flavors waiting inside.
At Ike’s Snowballs, the menu feels like a celebration of both tradition and local whimsy. Snowballs come in vivid swirls of flavor, from nostalgic classics infused with tangy fruit notes to inventive blends like King Cake-inspired creations that nod to the city’s carnival spirit. There’s a thoughtful balance here between playful indulgence—think soft serve and gelato to smooth the edges—and satisfying savory bites that hint at Louisiana’s rich culinary roots.
It’s the kind of place where toppings invite personalization and every spoonful tells a story, whether that’s the cool burst of pineapple on a sunlit afternoon or the unexpected delight of a sugar-free option crafted with care. While lines ebb and flow, there’s a patient, communal rhythm—the occasional messy drips or sticky fingers become part of the experience, a reminder that simple pleasures are best enjoyed without hurry or fuss.
In essence, Ike’s Snowballs isn’t just a stop for a sweet cool-down; it’s a small gathering point where the neighborhood’s easygoing spirit lingers in the air, and every visit feels like a quiet celebration of the Louisiana way to pause and savor the moment.

This a very nice place to cool off after a trip to City Park. They even have doggie snowballs! My dog had the roast beef snowball.

Taking the street car to near the cemeteries and walking to City Park, we stopped at Ike's Snowballs, a small stand with a large outdoor patio. For just a few dollars, they sell snowballs (snow cones) in dozens of flavors from cream-based to other flavors like cherry and peach. My seven-year-old daughter loved the strawberry. I found the margarita one refreshing. The flavors are strong and sweet so a small is more than enough. Note: There aren't any public restrooms.

Visited Ikes today. Me & bae got a snowball. Today the line was short. It's Memorial day Monday. Absolutely great, Thanks Ike!

Classic ikes in city park. Good flavors at extremely cheap prices. Plenty of seating outdoors to chill and hang out. Gets really messy! We like the tigers blood but make sure to add condensed milk

Best chocolate I've had in a long time. The ice was so soft and smooth and they only put a tiny bit of syrup as requested!! I really love the ice.

I love going here before going to work. I work overnights and love having a snoball before work The staff is friendly, and even though the lines look long, the line moves fast.
